About

History of Glean Ministries

In the early eighties, revival was sweeping through Western Africa. It became clear that factors such as geography, social class, education, poverty, spiritual strongholds etc. were preventing the main harvest from reaching certain groups. The goal of Glean Ministries became to reach these groups. To "glean," the field for those un-reached, as God does not desire to loose even one.
Glean Ministries, founded by Tony and Erica Omoijuanfo, and has worked in Romania for over ten years. They were involved with the first ministry to bring the Gospel to the prisons after the fall of communism, volunteering and beginning volunteer programs in the orphanages, Christian education in both public and church schools, ministering to street children, patients in hospitals, the poor and mentally ill.
Glean Ministries also assisted in the planting of three different churches. Beginning with evangelism and then the process of training nationals for the various ministries. After some years the churches were handed over to all Romanian leadership and have gone on to plant other churches themselves.
Tony traveled all through Romania ministering to different churches. His ministry crossed denominations and included teaching, preaching, prayer, leadership training, youth conferences, conflict resolution and prophetic messages.
Glean Ministries continues to keep up contact with different churches in Romania but began to focus its ministry on The Republic of Benin in 2002.

What WE BELIEVE

1. WE BELIEVE the scriptures are inspired by God.
2. WE BELIEVE that there is only one true God who is revealed in three persons: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.
3. WE BELIEVE in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God's son Jesus was both human and divine.
4. WE BELIEVE man willingly fell to sin and all men fall short of the glory of God.
5. WE BELIEVE every person can have fellowship restored with God through salvation.
6. WE BELIEVE and practice the ordinances of water baptism and Holy communion.
7. WE BELIEVE that justification occurs at salvation and sanctification is an ongoing and progressive work in the believer's life.
8. WE BELIEVE that the church has a mission to seek and to save all who are lost in sin.
9. WE BELIEVE in the works of the Holy Spirit in the church today.
10. WE BELIEVE in the rapture of the church.
11. WE BELIEVE in the millennial reign of Christ on earth.
12. WE BELIEVE a final judgment will take place.
13. WE BELIEVE and look forward to the perfect new heavens and the new earth.
14. WE BELIEVE in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision

Church plainting
Church planting will be the main focus of our ministry in Benin. We will go to an area in which we can reach 4-5 villages at one time. After beginning churches in each local area we will facilitate the training of leaders and lay leaders. We will over see the beginning of the various ministries in the churches. Eventually weaning the churches to the Nationals.

Leadership development

This includes both the existing leaders and the new ones who will rise up with in the new churches. Whether it is young people interested in missions, experienced pastors, students, various types of ministers or new believers, Glean Ministries desires to be able to serve them with the highest quality opportunities possible.

Bible School
Experience has shown that the location of training affects the future of the ministry greatly. Training far away usually leads to a minister who finds it difficult to be relevant to his original context. While bringing a minister from the city to a village setting often leads to frustration and a high turn over rate as the city pastor finds adjustment to the village a challenge to great. Glean Ministries will offer a Bible school in Benin for those who wish to be trained with out loosing contact with the church they will be serving.

Radio Station
We will take the opportunity to broadcast teaching, preaching and Christian news towards the north. In the north there is a larger concentration of Muslims.

Small scale enterprises for the community
Offering means for individuals to work and support their families and ministries. This may involve our experience in agriculture. The main goal is to facilitate financial independence.

Christian School
One of our strong desires is to minister to the social needs of the area as we continue to bring the Word of God to the people. We hope to offer education to young boys and girls who come from particularly poor homes and risk the danger of being sent into child labor or eventual prostitution. The school will offer free education with an emphasis on excellence in an atmosphere of love and commitment to each individual's future.
